Discover the Benefits of Shockwave Therapy

shockwave therapy toolThis noninvasive treatment can reduce pain, promote healing and more! At HealthyWays, we’re committed to providing our patients with state-of-the-art healing solutions that get outstanding results. That’s why we’re pleased to offer Shockwave Therapy. This medical treatment uses ultrasound technology to transmit Radial Pressure Waves (RPW), which are high-energy acoustic waves into the target area to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. This nonsurgical chiropractic care option promotes new cell growth, and new, healthy cells replace cells that are old, weak, or damaged. Radial Pressure Wave Therapy (RPWT) helps decrease muscle pain and activate connective tissue, temporarily aid in the increase of blood flow, and help in the treatment of hip and shoulder tendonitis. The therapy also helps alleviate pain associated with various musculoskeletal conditions.

What Does RPWT Feel Like?

Patients may experience some soreness and thumping sensation when the treatment head passes over dysfunctional tissues. However, patients report very little discomfort when it travels over healthy tissue. The level of discomfort depends on the area being addressed, the settings on the device, and the acuity of the condition. It’s not uncommon to experience minor post-treatment soreness around the involved area.

What to Expect

When you enter the practice for this treatment as a new patient, we will get a detailed assessment of your condition as the first step. This is done to ensure that we get a complete understanding of the problem, and to also determine if you are a good candidate for RPWT. There are just a few contraindications to the treatment. Once we determine you are a good candidate, then we will discuss treatment parameters and whether any supportive therapy would be appropriate, in addition to the Shockwave Therapy. A session takes about 10 minutes. You can expect to have as few as 4 or as many as 8 sessions.

What Are the Benefits?

  • Short treatment time (10 minutes)
  • Can treat large areas
  • Noninvasive and no known significant adverse effects
